Do you have a summer giving plan?

Do you have a summer giving plan?

There are 3 C’s towards fully funding your summer that you must know and implement if you are to increase giving!  Before I share those with you let me share the number one reason why people give to any organization.  They believe in the vision of that organization.  People want their gifts to matter.  So they are looking for places to give that matter most.  A local church does more for their community than any other organization.  Why would anyone NOT want to give to the Church?

One reason why many churches struggling financially is they have no focused upon what they do that matters!  To get people to give you need a vision for why they should give.  I liken this to your story.  What is the story of your church?  I counsel my client churches to, “Get a story, work their story, tell about their story and people will willingly give to support that story.

Every cause has a story including your church.  What is the story of your church this coming summer?  Like it or not summer is fast approaching.  Summer is the churches busiest time but also it’s most challenging time in terms of seeing contributions come into the plate.

Since people are motivated to give by a vision you need to know the 3 C’s of vision communication.  If you have these three C’s you are more likely to be fully funded this summer than not.  So lets focus upon the 3 C’s.

Make it Clear – Above all else do your members clearly understand what it is you are attempting to do?  Is your vision clear?  Can your members easily tell their work associates, neighbors and friends what you are doing and why?  When visions are not clear people will not donate even in the best of economic times.

Keep it Concise – Donors have basically two questions, does this make sense and can you pull it off?  Answer those questions and you will get their dollars.  Remember the old KISS acrostic?  It stands for Keep It Simple Somehow.  KISS is good advice for communicating your vision.

Cast it Compellingly – The most important thing of all is to make your vision matter in the hearts of your members.  Show your donors how their gift will make a difference and they will rise up to support it financially.  Fail to communicate your vision in a compelling and passionate way and you will struggle through this economically challenging time.

I can help you with your vision and how to share it.  The “2015 Fully Funded Summer,” manual gives you everything you need.  To get your copy go to…
