Is your giving falling?

Is your giving falling?

I can’t help you if you don’t recognize you need help!  I am heading off to a conference where I will be speaking to pastors and laypeople about how to increase giving.  The church that I will be sharing at has seen their giving increase over 200% in the years that I have worked with them.  Not all of that is attributable to me but they will tell you that I helped greatly.  This church does amazing things and is willing every year to share with other churches.  I get to tag along, sit up my booth, pitch my wares and even do a break out session.

Sadly, many of those that I talk to will not use my services.  I want to be wrong but I have been at this for almost 19 years now.  If I had a dollar for every time someone walked by my booth and shook their head that they didn’t need my help I could probably buy a new car.  As one of my friends once said, “Mark, no one writes better stuff on giving.  Your problem is few are interested in the topic you write on.”  That hurt but he was right.

How can you know if you need my help?  Here are some thoughts…

  1. Giving at your church is flat or in decline.  Giving to the church is on a continual decline and by 2050 Americans will give only 1% of their disposable incomes to the Church.
  2. You are currently behind budget AND coming up on your busiest time of the year.  If you are behind now what makes you think you can make it up in the summer?
  3. The largest segment of your donors are Baby Boomers.  10,000 Baby Boomers a day turn 65 and are headed into retirement.  Thus, their ability to give is declining daily.
  4. You have no plans or ideas for increasing giving and givers.  I have plans for every season of the year including one for this Sunday!
  5. You are maxed out on the amount of additional time you have.  Relax I do the work for you thus saving you time.

“I can’t afford help.”  This is the number one excuse I get from pastors.  Seriously?  You can’t afford $1 a day?  I will guarantee to refund your money IF after using my plans you do not see an increase in giving.  In fact if you email me at Mark@thecharisgroup.org and share with me why you can’t afford my plan I will give you a month for free if you indeed qualify.

So stop making excuses and stop putting off the crying need to increase giving and givers!  Let me help you.  Remember though, I can’t help you if you don’t recognize you need help!
