How much time do you spend on offering planning each week? My guess is next to no time. When I was a pastor I never gave the offering a thought. Few do. Could this be one reason church giving continues to decline?
One minute for every hour? When I was in seminary we had a preaching professor that said for every minute you preached you should spend one hour of preparation. While I know few pastors that put in that amount of time still we do prepare and pray over our message. Why, because it is so important.
Isn’t making budget important? How are you going to be able to do all the missions and ministry you feel led to do if the offering plate is empty? The offering fuels all you do including your salary. For something so crucial wouldn’t it be wise to spend time planning on how to make it more effective?
Is the offering worship? Of course it is! Since it is worship should we not put at least some thought and preparation into it? Do you just wing it when it comes to the other parts of the worship service? No! You spend hours of time not just on the sermon but every aspect of the service. Yet most offering times are never planned out. As a result…
