Business in America is fast changing and the question should be asked, since retailers are closing stores is your church next?  Amazon is getting much of the blame for why major chains like Sears, Payless Shoes and others are closing stores if not going under all together.  Could your churches future be in danger?

If you don’t think this could happen to your church consider these startling facts from ChurchLeadership.org…

  • Every year more than 4000 churches close their doors compared to just over 1000 new church starts!
  • Every year, 2.7 million church members fall into inactivity.
  • At the turn of the last century (1900), there was a ratio of 27 churches per 10,000 people, as compared to the close of this century (2000) where we have 11 churches per 10,000 people in America!
  • The United States now ranks third (3rd) following China and India in the number of people who are not professing Christians.
  • Half of all churches in the US did not add any new members to their ranks in the last two years.

Clearly the Church in America is heading in the wrong direction!  While attendance is declining so is giving.  In 1960 Americans gave 3.11% of their incomes to the Church.  Today that percentage is at 2%.  At the current rate of decline by the year 2050 Americans will only give 1% of their disposable incomes to the Church.  With less foot traffic and declining incomes many churches like Payless Shoes will find themselves out of business.  The picture above is of a church near where I lived that closed its doors less than five years after relocating and building their new facility.  If it can happen to them it can happen to any of us!

My mission given to me by God is to reverse the decline in giving one church at a time!  This is what drives me to get up out of bed every morning considering what I can do that day to help churches like yours.  Here is the rub.  You first have to recognize that you need help.  Even churches that now are fully funded need to understand the future decline in giving we are facing.  With 10,000 Baby Boomers a day turning 65 and entering into retirement, our largest donor base is headed for declining incomes.  This means less in the offering plate for your church.

Do you have a plan to keep your church fully funded?  My clients see increases in giving every year some as much as 30%!  They recognize that they need help and they get it.  Do you?
