Attitude – Your attitude about giving to your church AND especially your attitude about asking people to give will determine your outcome. Our attitudes drive everything.
So, what should your attitude be? Here is what I mean by the right attitude…
The Right Attitude – My mission, to impact my world for Jesus, is given to me by God. We are changing the world one life at a time. Since all this is true why would a Christian NOT want to give money to support that mission? If you adapt this kind of attitude you will never be afraid to ask people to give to support the work of ministry. You will ask with boldness because, you believe!
It starts with you! When it comes to helping a church be fully funded the biggest obstacle I have to overcome in the typical church is the staff. Sometimes it is the Senior Pastor! If the ministerial staff don’t see the importance of being fully funded then how in the world will the rest of the congregation? They won’t. Do you have the right attitude?

Awareness – The vast majority of church leaders have little to no awareness of how giving is going in their church. Do you? For instance can you tell me right now what your yearly budget is set for? Do you know what you need weekly to make budget? Is giving ahead of last year or behind? How many givers did you lose last year as opposed to how many you gained? These are some of the key matrix’s you need to be aware of.
You can be ignorantly bliss if you want but it will mean some tough decision later in the year when you can’t fund all of what you want to do. Being aware of your giving trends is a key step towards being fully funded. Are you aware of where your giving stands now?

Actions – Based on our trends what do we need to do to increase giving and givers? In a nutshell what is your plan? As I have always said, “If you are not planning you are planning on failing.” What steps are you taking right now that will result in an increase in giving and givers?
