Do your members know more about where you stand with regards to making budget than you do? This past week I was working with a church that is considering a major project and a capital campaign to support that. Our team went in to talk with the key leaders of this church which included their giving leaders. One of the things we heard repeatedly was, “How can we think about a capital campaign when our giving is behind budget?” The staff at this church is acutely aware of where their giving stands and they are indeed working to see it increase. Yet often I find that it is the church member that is more focused upon the disparity between what is given and the budgeted needs.
